What people have said about Echaskech

"Echaskech may sound lush and atmospheric but this is ambience with teeth...as a live proposition, Echaskech toughen up into a true armoured dance animal with crunching beats and vicious synth snipes as standard...with the addition of Mach V (visuals) Echaskech become a truely immersive audio-visual experience where melody and groove are prime directives."
DJ Magazine
(Fantastic 4 - Hottest four names in dance music)

"There isn't a duff track in sight...this is an album of original material superbly executed and guaranteed to appeal."
5/5 - Utterly Fantastic! - I-DJ Magazine

"Purveyours of arguably some of the best hypnotic technotronica since the demise of Orbital"
The Big Chill

"In short, a dizzying journey accross the spectrum of dance music, creating something that is not only unique, but all encompassing. Albums like this...don't come along every day. When they do, seize them, treasure them...Very special"
Subba-Cultcha

"Skechbook gracefully moves from Techno to Acid, from Ambient to IDM. It works off of an inspiration by Kraftwerk, it shows an appreciation for Oribital, and it even digs a little deeper and touches on the warm, melodic soundscapes of Plone. The skill that Echaskech displays is not just the marrying of different influences and genres, lots of electronic artists do that, the real accomplishment is how smoothly these transitions take place."
Soundsect

"Picture Perfect"
The Ill-ec-tro-nic

"Just as you get disappointed by the new Chemical Brothers' album, along comes something better...Echaskech"
Ecce

Some other anonymous stuff (if you said it please let us know!):

"Echaskech were absolutely blinding - really looking forward to seeing them at Masterpeace - the beats are right up my alley...I have to say that's the finest visual accompanyment I've seen to non-superleague dance acts, like, ever. "

Biography

With Dom Hoare and Andy Gillham's influences including The Autobots, The Prodigy, Booka Shade, Aphex Twin, Arovane, Modeselektor and Vitalic it is not surprising that this electronic act are able to engage a crowd in almost any mood, they certainly have a lot of strings to their bow and as a result tend to win over crowds wherever they play.

Their debut album 'Skechbook' recieved media acclaim in Spring 2007, getting a whopping 5 out of 5 in IDJ magazine and immediately landing them a job scoring the film 'The Brink', completed late autumn 2007. They are now working on their second album for Just Music and lining up as many live dates for 2008 as they can.

Their early influences include Kraftwerk's "Tour de France" and Street Sounds Electro 1-3. Hip Hop was heavily courted via early influences such as Big Daddy Kane, Jungle Brothers and the Beastie Boys and more recently Dub Step and Grime sounds of the UK and Germany.

Before Echaskech, the duo had success as a Drum & Bass outfit touring clubs in the UK with the likes of Grooverider, Bukem and Storm. They even graced the DJ Drum & Bass charts with an early release! Then, shifting rhythms and ever improving technology led the boys to DJ at various underground parties around London. The party sound of choice was a combination of breaks, techno and electro and it's this influence that provided the backbone of the music they produced separately and played out.

Then late 2004 they plugged their machines together, jammed those with tracks to produce a new 'live' sound that has totally changed their approach to writing and producing making the sound that is now Echaskech. Excited by this they decided to take their new live approach and play a long string of performances on stage throughout 2005 but with the addition of one last live element; video. Enter Mach V.

Mach V (a.k.a Mark van der Vord), regular supplier of visuals for the likes of The Big Chill and SoxaN, provides a unique visual element to each Echaskech track from a variety of visual sources.
